@feditips@mstdn.social hey, is there a way I can temporarily visit other servers? I want to find people to follow in different communities. I’m using metatext, which I heard has that function but I can’t find it?

@astrally@mstdn.social Hi astral, hi am pretty new but my understanding is that if you are searching by #HashTags or in #Comments that search will be across all #Federated servers and it seems (imho) to be the best way to find new people In metatext (no experience of it) there will be a option to view everything on your instance (server) or everything posted on all federated instances Try #Feditips if still stuck use loads of #HashTags #Metatext #help #Newbie

@astrally@mstdn.social @feditips@mstdn.social when you add a server you have an option to browse its local timeline instead of signing in or up. If it’s not available, then it means the instance you want to browse forbids it.

@astrally@mstdn.social Toot! by @tootapp@mastodon.social allows you to add multiple instances to browse their local timelines without logging in. Then if you want to interact with a post on another instance, it asks you which account to use for the interaction. Pretty nicely done I think.
