If you change something while troubleshooting and it does not fix the problem, put it back the way it was and start over.
Changes that don't fix the problem are new problems, not solutions!

If you end up being pulled in to a troubleshooting panic where people have tried and failed to resolve an issue: 1- Interrogate the people involved thoroughly until you fully understand what they did trying to solve the problem. 2- Undo it. 3- Ask what they were trying to do, not what the problem is. Frequently the actual problem is they don't understand what the problem is and have made incorrect assumptions. 4- Using this information, re-define the problem scope and start over.
