@kelset@mastodon.online From what I can tell, VS Code doesn't really have a "terms of service" you have to accept, it has a software license and a privacy policy. I took a quick glance at both and couldn't find anything obvious related to age, and I'd be surprised if a license or privacy policy had that.
The weird thing Zed is doing is that they have a ToS for a *service*, but require you to agree that ToS to download their *software*. Combined with unfortunate wording, you have the 18+ requirement to use Zed.

@kelset@mastodon.online The reasonable way to handle an optional service bundled with a piece of software would be to have a license for the software and a ToS for the service and only require you to agree to the ToS if you use the service. I would guess that this is what VS Code is doing if you use Copilot. Maybe their ToS for Copilot even requires you to be 18+ (I haven't checked). They just had the sense to not shove the Copilot ToS in your face just to download the editor
