@krismicinski @regehr I mean, it's an official supported platform for Debian and FreeBSD, and you can buy boards akin to RPis pretty easily (https://mangopi.org/mqquad), so, I think it's a thing now

I believe that this https://mangopi.org/mqpro is a Risc-V chip, but details are light. I believe it is this https://riscv.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Allwinner-XuanTie-C906-RISC-V-Processor.jpg thus 64 bit, single core, 512MiB. If the latter is all correct, your point is still spot-on, so long as this board is available. Pity no multi-core.
