Just got home from Spanish class and all 7 people in the class had a story about an older relative (mom, dad, grandad, uncle, aunt) who spends hours a day mindlessly scrolling social media and is completely unable to engage with the rest of the family during meals.
Tell me again why we're trying to ban kids/teens from social media and not just ban algorithmic social media entirely?

@mkristensson@thepit.social Because the vast majority of politicians—the people who would be responsible for passing such a law—have absolutely no expertise in how this technology works, much less is sociological effects.
