@sus@timeloop.cafe maybe it depends on age as well? when I was a young boy in 1970s my dad would buy science/tech magazines for me to read (usually about space / computers / electronics as well as cars ) and every other application was for some kind of military stuff, and it was simply viewed as normal, including nuclear weapons (the Cold War was still at its height, and many European nations still had conscription)
And these were magazines intended to be read by kids...

@vfrmedia@social.tchncs.de Oh that's a good point! I do think the memory has faded for some, but for millennials and younger people, the cold war feels like history and space is about tourism, exploration, and communications and science with maybe some spying (which is basically military, but doesn't quite feel like it)
