@JoopKnoop@mastodon.social @bert_hubert@fosstodon.org I think for many problems (like office) there are great open source tools that could benefit from government funding and would also be cheaper than paying for proprietary software that does not benefit the public good

I work for an open source company myself and what i see is that users want a company behind a product. For support and compliance reasons. If we give boatloads of money to NextCloud (example), they will become the market leader and we will become dependent on them. So i agree that money needs to be poured into open source solutions, but NOT into open source with just one contributor or all contributors from the same company.
