I also think it's reasonable to treat this differently than chips just because drinking is de facto so universal. The non-drinker is stranger than the non-chips-eater. To want to know why is natural. It might be helpful to know if the reason is otherwise relevant (health issues or so), which is more likely for non-drinkers than non-chips-eaters.

@jackemled@furry.engineer @digichelle@hachyderm.io Perhaps I don't have a good idea of what kinds of reasons people don't drink. I'm assuming that for most people, the question won't be triggering trauma or be hard to explain. I don't drink because I see no reason to do it and have noted the negative health effects. Maybe others have vastly different reasons?
