After reading the essay about boring tech (https://terrygodier.com/the-boring-internet) by @tg, I’ve been wondering about the DMA and other regulatory things. The chat control, the platform regulation, the age verification, all of it, requires that a central authority checks an ID, reads your content, etc. And you know what has no central authorities? The boring tech that is simply specs, protocols, etc.
Most of the loud arguments about tech and privacy vanish when you move to boring tech.
