@admin@mastodon.abstractbits.net Even the newer systems that "think" are really not doing so with anything even remotely approaching what people do in terms of how they work. I've seen a few folks say "it forces me to think about it more" and like... I think I learn much more even with adapting existing things I find because I have to learn what I need to look for.

  • @KayOhtie@blimps.xyz Yeah, even if you do need to copy some code from somewhere else online, you at least need to read through it and adapt it to do what you want. Maybe even consulting the documentation for the language to better understand how certain functions work. It's a much better process for learning, especially when debugging and testing to integrate it into your project. WAY better than having it spoon fed to you by an LLM.
