@mynameistillian@plush.city @mawr@plush.city it's about power, see. and for managers to feel important bossing people around in person. they need to feel seen in doing their jobs, not just because they get off on power, but also because they're insecure about being unneccessary to the running of the business. they don't want people to see that workers don't need them. but also a lot of these guys are extremely lonely and the only socialisation they get is with a captive audience of employees

    @mynameistillian@plush.city @mawr@plush.city the AI boom didn't do nearly that much to boost employment, even in the early days. note the colours on the graph showing what kinds of job were created: they aren't just in AI production also note that this graph shows the *change* in the number of jobs, not the number of jobs. if there was no job growth or loss then the line would be at zero, regardless of how many jobs there were. the first 4 years show a consistant growth of about 100k a year
