@Macroz@fosstodon.org i mostly just thought it was fascinating that the users, who may well have no technical knowledge about anything, are still able to demonstrate that what he's saying doesn't make sense by holding up examples of the feature existing in other software. the impression me (and other people) come away with is either he doesn't understand the feature, or VLC is architected in a uniquely strict way that makes a common feature in other software impossible, or he's misrepresenting the problem

@jk@mastodon.social I think people in the thread are talking past each other. Both sides are obviously correct. There exists software that does the feature the users request, but they are limited in utility and cases, and that is what the dev is trying to say, but it is not accepted by the users or you 🤷? We all know communication often fails and there is limited bandwidth in online comms. I just didn't think your characterization of the thread was exactly fair.
