@Wolf480pl@niu.moe this is a belief, where is the evidence of that on a larger scale?
There a quite some counter-examples. Look at free software. Most free software is produced by people already paid by another company. And these people work on their free time. How so? Why are they doing that? Why don't they slack around?
Do you really think people are compelled to do "their best" only when they are threatened by starvation?

@alxcndr@mastodon.social the biggest free software projects are produced at least in part by people who are paid for it. Also, how big a percentage of software developers works on free software? and how big a percentage just wants to do anything that's not coding?
