@martenson@mastodon.world Photographers feared they would become obsolete when anybody can buy a cheap camera, Photoshop was once seen as a threat to traditional artists and music labels feared that cassettes would be the death of commercial music. None of that happened. They all became tools in a new generation's toolbox. And as you said, "AI" doesn't have much personality. That's good. It means "AI" needs to be combined with an artist's personality to make something good while the rest sinks to the bottom.

    @martenson@mastodon.world In my personal opinion, the only thing really threatened by "AI" are stock photos and people who write SEO texts for websites. And I say that as a photographer who has sold stock photos before. At the same time I'm excited about things we just can't do by hand. Imagine a video game where "AI" doesn't replace hand-written and voice acted dialogue but fills the gaps in places the writers couldn't foresee, at the same time freeing up resources for the scenes that are actually important.
