I was reading a couple of Mandela effect threads on reddit, and it's not only very clear that most human memories are approximate at best, but people cannot be brought to believe it - to the degree that people who have a Mandela effect experience, and who are otherwise ordinary, reasonable folks, will start dreaming up monumental global conspiracies to explain why there was once a popular genie movie with Sinbad in the title role, and it's been erased from existence.

I have one. I have clear memories of using a crayon called "flesh” that was a pale dun color. The racist crayon. There is also clear evidence this crayon stopped existing years before I was a crayon-using child. It's perhaps barely possible there were old stock crayons in the schools, but it's much more likely that this memory isn't true, even though - it feels like it is. I also really thought it was Bearenstein Bears but that was obviously just a kid's misreading.
