"April 22, 1907 - the first issue of the newspaper VIAȚA BASSARABIEI,( LIFE OF BESSARABIA) led by the Bessarabian publicist Alexis Nour, was published. The newspaper appeared in Russian letters, as well as "in Romanian letters for the great intelligent public of Bessarabia and all the countries inhabited by Romanians", which is why it disappeared after only six issues (April 22, 1907–May 25, 1907), being banned by the Tsarist censorship.
Previously, the newspaper BASSARABIA, published by Emanuil Gavriliță between May 26, 1906 and March 11, 1907, was banned after publishing the hymn "Deșteaptă-te, române!" (Romanian national anthem) on March 9, 1907."
