They are the most reliable because, when done right, air is squeezed out from the contact area and the metal-metal connection is preserved. And unlike solder connections, the wire is not made brittle and so it can flex more without breaking. Dig through any industrial equipment or any vehicle... Most wires will terminate at a crimp. If it works for your application, this would be a great option.
