#ScribesAndMakers May 8: Leviathan? Listen. You cannot just drop leviathan, who has ties to Lotan and Tiamat, into my prompts. That ties a concept from early Hebrew legend in with Canaanite and Mesopotamian stuff. While I'm pretty sure there's no direct connection to Fenrir, double-checking my references on Wikipedia reminded me of some elements of that figure too. I love y'all but we cannot be doing this. :blobcatgiggle: Anyway. Our great hero faces down the great beast, Leviathan. They fight to a stand still. The hero asks what Leviathan wants. Leviathan says to be left alone. The hero says "oh, shit. Sorry, dude." "Happens all the time." Leviathan swims off, thinking comparatively charitable thoughts about the hero. And then the author avoids telling a joke in poor taste involving a certain science educator and harasser of critters. (I'm not upset at all but I seriously could nerd out about this forever.)

#ScribesAndMakers May 9: How likely are you to embrace changes to language usage? You mean load my prose up with skibbidy and 6 7 references? :blobcatgiggle: Engaging in language play is how young people evolve the language and also how they separate themselves from the stodgy olds (which includes me). Some of their changes will persist (the way 'cool' did) and some of it will fade and be forgotten. I'm unlikely to use new slang. Not because I don't respect it. In a sense, I do. (As far as I can tell, 6 7 is just a Darmok and Jalad and Tanagra.) I lack the context to use those references competently. Since the stuff I write here is intended for adults only, my audience also lacks the context to receive it competently. Which isn't to suggest my language play is done. It will just be my own rather than plugged into the zeitgeist of 'youth culture.' (Note: I'm doing several silly things in this post. If my tone seems weird, that's likely why.)

@EveHasWords@toot.cat Why look for a connection to Fenrir instead of his sibling Jormungand, who is sitting right there looking at you sadly?
