@iFixit@mastodon.social actually quality devices from Sennheiser and the like have spareparts like forever. Where is the news?

@Reinald@nrw.social @iFixit@mastodon.social If only that were true. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 598SE headphones that I love, but the earpads are coming apart. No spare parts available for the model. Won't be buying from Sennheiser again.

@Reinald@nrw.social @iFixit@mastodon.social They're Bluetooth headphones with an easily replaceable battery that isn't glued in, and the manufacturer supports use of replacement batteries. I'm not aware of any Sennheiser headphones meeting those goals.

  • @Reinald@nrw.social @iFixit@mastodon.social I can't comment on their over-ear cans but their earbuds are quite bad in terms of repairability. One of my Momentum 3's perished several months ago and after some research it became apparent that the only thing to do was buy a new pair as the issue is basically unfixable without sending them back to Sennheiser. At this point I'm willing to take a hit on quality to get something that I know will last.
