People who make music with no input feedback. The results depend a lot on the soundsystem/PA ahead. As in what i rehearse at home sometimes doesnt work (as in no sound happens) or differs at a location with bigger pa. Does anybody know more, e.g. what is the deciding factor, or how to overcome this? please dont "it is well know that".. Other than that, happy to be showered with ideas, serendipity and exchange experiences. #noinput #noisemusic #soundsystem #feedbackmusic

For those wanting a visual idea, specially the pedals and mixer (i am right handed, so mixer to the right). But the original connections had been chsnged at this point already, this photo was taken yesterday at a little gig after i had to frantically do plan b when no input decided to basically harrumph and discreetly shut up except for when i switched off most of the effects. Ah, i know that the location pa had a huge compressor working as a limiter, because they were scared of no input.

  • @GubbiAnn@mastodon.art It would be interesting to know what no-input you are doing as I kinda have a sneaky suspicion that it is very specific.

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art Hi. I would be tempted to use a little amp(s) and mic it up. Thinking about doing some of this myself as well so good to know there's lots of variation across systems.

@GubbiAnn@mastodon.art are there any open mics or piezos in your path? this could explain it .. by putting an overall more energy into the system. otherwise it's maybe just the inexplicable usual magic, that happens on stages from time to time.

  • @GubbiAnn@mastodon.art you can do no-input feedback entirely within your mixer itself (and maybe aux sends to pedals etc), and then send the main out to the PA, that would be consistent as long as you bring your mixer. if you want the PA to be mic’d up and part of the feedback loop, (or if you’re using the venue’s mixer?) that would definitely be totally different for each location and have to be tested out, or improvised. but I think for many artists doing it, NIMB means the former method.
