@elaterite@mastoart.social yes! Although to be honest, I've seen blossoms open throughout the day as well. But I think bats are one of the primary pollinators for a lot of cactus species so opening at night is definitely more advantageous and avoids getting scorched by the sun!

    @amostart@mastoart.social @elaterite@mastoart.social It's interesting that there are pollinators who respond to such a fleeting opportunity. They have to make a living the rest of the year too, so what makes that particular flower so attractive for that brief time?
