@VintageProject@oldbytes.space A friend (who is an electrician) bought a house where the previous owner paid a lot to "upgrade" the wiring etc. ; He ripped it all out.
I found multiple really dangerous things while redoing the wiring and outlets in our house.
The main issue is that those companies can get away with doing the bare minimum and most customers will not notice as they have no idea.
And now imagine that this is common not just for electrical work but for other "professionals" as well. I really don't want to DIY everything but I really don't want to pay someone a lot of money to do something "professionally" if I could just DIY it better and cheaper.

@stereo4x4@techhub.social From my experience: Don't do everything yourself. But hire an industrial electrician if you can, preferably from a power plant setting. Those guys have always been tidy as can be. Pricey, yes, but worth the money. Domestic electricians often are worse than DIYers.
