@randomgeek@masto.hackers.town @deafferret@flyovercountry.social When I wrote my last wiki engine (the one I use for my blog right now), I decided that I wanted to stick to some semi-standard Markup language with near-zero extensions in order to facilitate migration. And I immediately wrote a static export to HTML in order to facilitate migration. Both of these because I had locked myself in with my previous wiki (written in Perl). I allowed and encouraged and did all sorts of redefinitions and extensions to the markup rules in config files and it was a glorious mess for 20 years but also nearly impossible to get rid of and migrate away from.
