I have since found confirmation that the 4GB blob Google helpfully shat into Chrome users' computers and the standards proposal linked below are two ends of the same project. Someone at Google is in a real hurry to turn their quarterly performance review into a durable internet standard.

If we want to use the internet, a computer (running an OS like Linux) offers more options and control. I understand, though, that many people in the world use their cell phone as their primary, or only, viewing portal to the internet. 🙁 And most do not dare try to try something that is not mainstream. The name slapped on that page caught my eye. #Google #Chrome #Firefox
