My take on AI from the perspective of experimentation or making otherwise unplayable games very playable/accessible: I just read a message on Discord implying that a dev isn't genuine because they can't tell what is them or AI in their game development. This is an established audiogames dev, pre-AI. My take: it doesn't fucking matter. If the dev in question uses these tools responsibly, they will put work into their game, or mod, and won't publically release it on GitHub or wherever until its playable or in a state where they would want people to see it. The AI is a small fraction of the experience. Look at RimWorld Access mod as the biggest example. Hell, to a player, if the mod or game is good enough, the fact that they used an AI tool to assist them with development won't effect the playable experience at all. Yes, I know AI is getting a bad name due to actors, and media overhyping the negative points where you press a button and software gets spit out, or songs, etc. I consider it a massive boon for accessibility. RimWorld dev would never consider accessibility for sure. Nor would the Factorio devs. Some user communities are trolling blind mod devs because they don't think accessibility should be a thing. Guess what? Thankfully, neither the devs nor existing players control the outcome of this. As long as we can do it, we're going to do it. It has the potential to enspire native accessibility if looked at from the right lens. Saying a genuine person isn't genuine (implied) because they used AI to experiment isn't it.
