@MichaelTBacon@social.coop @jillL@theblower.au and also, also, it costs a lot of money to set yourself up to grow from seed, although it certainly gets cheaper every year. I agree, this kind of article is lame.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com that's because it's propaganda. “not saving fifty dollars? that's your fault! no the government can't punish the big supermarkets for using uncertainty to gouge prices. what? you already had your free trains. get back to buying petrol. no money for petrol? become a farmer. not being a hobby farmer is a moral failing, YOU should be saving fifty dollars.” @MichaelTBacon@social.coop @jillL@theblower.au

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com @MichaelTBacon@social.coop @jillL@theblower.au Yes the article is misleading, growing stuff can be hard, require equipment, I also sometimes fail while replanting seedling. It is also not like you will learn everything in one season. On the other side, collective gardening exists since long time. You can share land, equipment, knowledge, plants etc. My grand father was able to go on strike for a month thanks to that and those gardens. I know the article is not advocate that but we should.
