@matunos@mastodon.social @nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social @Empiricism@scicomm.xyz the other case Eugen was talking about was https://twitter.com/triketora/status/1594348646396559361 "Our moderation has a pattern of making mistakes that impact women of color, but we'll fix them and we're working on getting better at moderating" is better than not fixing them, or banning people for discussing racism. And, there have been years of "we're working on getting better at moderating," so it's getting taken with a grain of salt.

@Empiricism@scicomm.xyz @nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @jdp23@indieweb.social @mergerson@mastodon.social thanks… that's a pretty big lapse of moderator judgment; I don't know what the dogwhistle is supposed to be there, seems a pretty bad faith or at least ignorant report. Proper moderation is gonna be a big question mark for the Mastodon federation. Difficult at best for well-funded monolithic corporate entities, I fear decentralization introduces more complications than mitigations.

@matunos@mastodon.social @nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social @Empiricism@scicomm.xyz More importantly though ... A moderation pattern of making mistakes that impact women of color is *not* *ok*. Neither is the attitude that it's something people should just expect and put up with, or that the burden should be on the people who are affected by it. And since the person who has controlled moderation on that site for the last six years also controls the code base ...
