I'm thinking about making a federated learning management system with #activitypub. Possibly something like a lightweight #moodle or Microsoft Learn, but more likely something like #Duolingo. You'd craft tiny courses on your instance and learners would use their Mastodon accounts. Would this be a bad idea for some reason I haven't thought about yet?

@delsehi@mastodon.nu That sounds a bit like the way memrise used to be. The problem with this approach is that no one has the energy to create a complete end-to-end course in say, Dutch. So instead you end up with a patchwork of lesson material, each of which covers much of the same material as the others, yet misses major areas. So what you need is a syllabus for *everything* that could be learned in the language, which volunteers can then fill in with lessons per topic.
