@paul@tapbots.social Trust us, we will send you a check for that higher electric bill you're gonna start getting. And, some ear plugs for that high pitch whine you hear day and night. And, an Uber to get you to the therapist because of the madness you experience from said perpetual whine. One thing you can always take to the bank is Silicon Valley promises. They have an unassailable track record.

@paul@tapbots.social This is the same math as which memecoin is less fraudulent: there isn’t one.

@paul@tapbots.social I'm curious why SpaceX had so much spare capacity laying around. Is xAI/Grok such a failure that they overbuilt?

@paul@tapbots.social Just sounds like a win-win scenario -- they get extra compute and Musk gets a PR win for his forthcoming absurd SpaceX/allThingsMusk IPO. And to that end, they get to feign interest in 'orbital AI compute capacity' to lend that DOA brainfart of an idea credibility. FWIW, I don't pretend anyone involved in this AI space is remotely ethical or moral. They're not; they just make occasional noises in that direction for PR reasons.

@paul@tapbots.social Genuine question, is not using any not an option? What would you lose from not using LLMs regularly, or maybe even switching to only using local models? I used to work in software but I never worked in a big enough codebase/org for LLMs or agents to be useful, so I’m genuinely curious about the value that you feel you’re getting from these cloud-based LLM solutions.
