@barnibu@birdbutt.com This reminds me of why I'm irritated at the changes to the Steam client that happened earlier this year: they finally got rid of the "no-browser" command-line mode and now I'm forced to launch the "full" client for anything Steam related. Most of the time I only open Steam just to launch whatever title I want to play, and the "no-browser" mode was perfect for that.

@barnibu@birdbutt.com If Mozilla wasn't kill off their suite we would have been using #Firefox instead of #Chromium now. Despite both had bad decisions which is not always at the best of user, both old #Netscape and its successor #Mozilla has done more things to Internet, #privacy and #FOSS and don't engage in #BigTech behaviors, but it's clear that both failed to capture opportunities and bad decisions make their #BigTech competitors dominate and in #Netscape case, leading their own death.

@barnibu@birdbutt.com It's funny because I directly contributed to this. Chrome's manager explicit goal was to be able to checkout and build chromium with less than "15 minutes of think time". I worked a ton in 2008 to make checkout and building as seamless as possible, which spurred a lot of what we observe now.
