Chances are, they change their mind about doing something illegal. Chances are, they'd have blamed you for not knowing that it was illegal when it leaked out. Chances are, they'll tell you not to write this in an email to them.

@workchronicles@mastodon.social once, i met an investment banker, wh told me about some database software he'd written (or commissioned)... to keep track of legislation and the cost of not complying (e.g. fines) so the bank could make a decision on whether to comply based on cost.
