While I still think that Philips could just make their products more durable.... @thibaultmol@en.osm.town yeah I wish they'd have durable products that weren't made of plastic. I hate how 3D printing normalizes plastic and especially microplastics.

@thibaultmol@en.osm.town @josefprusa@mas.to Would be nice if they include parts for older Phillips products as well, like toasters from the 1970s, cassette players from the 1980s and VHS recorders from the 1990s. There's lots of working Phillips tech still out there, including electron microscopes that they made before they decided they're not a technology company any more.

@thibaultmol@en.osm.town Good point. I’ve actually stopped buying Philips products, because for at least two decades, I’ve had their products consistently fail or break shortly after the warranty period, be it hair driers, electrical toothbrushes, toasters, mixers …

@thibaultmol@en.osm.town @josefprusa@mas.to Philips could also stock spare parts for its products and sell direct-to-consumer. Packaging and mailing small plastic parts surely can't be very expensive. Sony had done this pretty well for many of its products. I liked being able to go to my local Sony service center in north San Jose, which at one point was literally across the street from where I worked.
