@KlavsKlavsen I uh. I think you are missing a point here which is that these stats are about contributing, not about maintaining. Maintaining is a restrained number of people that do most of the job and that have faaaaar less support. Once again, i would advise to go read the Road and Bridges report i link in the blogpost

    @Di4na My point still stands. Most maintainers will be doing it as their day job, just like kernel maintainers, by companies that have a big enough income in something using the software, so they MUST have own employees, that really know and can fix any issue in the code. If someone else is doing it, they ofcourse won't.

    @Di4na Luckily patreon etc is helping, to enable visible projects with a large userbase to get support directly, but then they will have to adopt libs, or patreon to support those, that do not attract enough user focus, for them to get patreons.

    @Di4na Pushing "public code" initiative - might help this, as goverments around the world would then automaticly become part of the users, and then hopefully also start to consider their role in helping to maintain the open source they use and benefit from.
