#ScribesAndMakers When did you think of the idea for your current project?
In those first delirious weeks after we moved, January 2025, the first story for “What A Charming House” was scrawled in a notebook. Just for fun, a one-off to procrastinate unpacking, while thinking of Shirley Jackson and Tom Waits.
A few weeks (and stories) later, we decided to do a collection of gothic house tales.

@WhatACharmingHouse@mastodon.social how did you come to be thinking of Shirley Jackson and Tom Waits at the same time? Now I'm starting to wonder what a conversation between the two would be like. He would have to still be pretty young for this fictitious conversation to happen in real life, but Tom Waits and the ghost of Shirley Jackson talking seems kind of interesting to me.
