@KaCi @MostlyTato @autistics I do think it depends a LOT on the environment you end up in. In academia I fitted in fine, and almost all of my best friends I met at university, or while teaching. One particular group told me their thought process when meeting me was..."She's weird, but mostly in a good way. We'll keep her." 😂
But I am 'lucky' in that I have had many, many hours of therapy, and grew up with a very extroverted dad who made friends very easily, so I had an example to follow.

@GinevraCat It's great that you had a good role model and found your best friends at university. 🤗 Unfortunately many AuDHD people don't have that opportunity for many different reasons like childhood trauma, burnout, classism, racism, ableism, misogyny or lack of financial support. This is one of the aspects of the causality chain of success or "failure" in life, where intersectionality plays a huge role. @MostlyTato @autistics
