@shivers Maybe it's both, I don't really know. However as this poem undoubtably is from way before the internet and way before the telephone it may as well just be a regional thing. You know one region had the flowers merchants brought it over long distances along and someone in a place where that colour wasn't yet named write that poem. It's easy these days to assume everyone around the entire world has access to the same knowledge at all times when it wasn't for most of human history...

    @shivers What I do know however is that our perception of colour is highly dependent open us naming it. If we don't name it we actually don't see it. Like the best example the colour brown. Do you think it is a different colour than let's say orange? The same way blue and green are different or is it for you more like a light blue is different from a dark almost black-ish blue? Truth is you get brown on the colour scale when you go to orange and reduce the brightness. Brown is dark orange.
