There is an extremely funny anti-Goldilocks zone where my Pentium MMX 233 MHz 90's computer has a CPU too fast for Sam and Max Hit the Road to run correctly because the MIDI output will crash above a certain speed, but is too slow to run ScummVM well. :ac_laughter: (There is a fan patch for this issue here that came out in the last year, surprisingly. Not much demand with ScummVM around, understandably.) #retrocomputing

  • @gourd@indiepocalypse.social I used to run into issues with this on things like Warcraft 2 that would crash on a too fast system. It was quite annoying. As I recall, I actually underclocked my P2-233 down to 166 for DOS games like those to avoid crashing. (It could have been 133, but I think it wouldn't boot below 166 off the top of my head.) Come to think of it, I wonder if ScummVM might run well enough on a P2-233 anyway?
