I have been mulling about this identity with the craft of coding and that personally, I always was more interested in the outcome, building something that _works_, gets rid of the tedious thing that causes me problems it’s the first place.
To follow @gizmo level description[1], I completed a tedious amount of level 1 stuff and started to appreciate level 2 via a mix of luck and youthful naivety. There are only a few systems where I feel like I got glimpses of level 3.

I feel pretty alienated from a lot of my friends. I share a lot of their concerns about loss of agency and atrophy of skill. Of course the hype is overblown. I don’t think newer models are proving to generalize like people want them to. Why would we need so many dimensions on these benchmarks. But, I think, it’s proven that we can train certain skills effectively, deep mind showed this years ago. These systems are becoming _competent_ at level 1 incredibly fast.
