That urban aesthetic was what made ZZZ unique, and I have to admit, that’s what drew me to it. Belle/Rin’s design is awesome. The Cunning Hares’ design is the very definition of ZZZ. Zhu Yuan’s tactical police gear with touches of British police style. Miyabi’s group, all sporting that “office” style mixed with “samurai” (it looks better than it sounds). Etc... That aesthetic in the characters of 3.0.

And what really won me over when I saw the story was that urban fantasy element. But it was like... urban over fantasy. You had different races—demons, werewolves—walking down the street like it was normal. Miyabi had a cursed magic sword... and nobody batted an eye. But the overall theme, the conspiracies, the plot... The Hollow catastrophe... It was focused more on a style—not 100% sci-fi, but not 100% fantasy either. Now what we see is fantasy set in an urban fantasy world.
