There are a couple of special folders and Control Panel views that add extra items to the classic menu bar, and some of these cannot be accessed through any other GUI. For example, the list of network adapters had an "Advanced" menu with a couple of unique entries that you might still need...

okay, nobody actually needs to turn on "Operator-Assisted Dialing" anymore. But perhaps you need to use "Advanced" > "Advanced Settings..." (yes, really) to change your network provider order? If you're on Windows 11, tough luck! Time to look up a magic rundll32 command to open that dialog, I guess
