@andrejbauer@mathstodon.xyz I think it's incredible how, even assuming a situation where the AI is useful, people are expected to pay for extra tokens to generate text like complaints, flattery and fake apologies around it, that do not help with the task at all. I'd say this was also part of the business model, but it's a bad business model because the tokens are still currently not charged at a profitable rate.

@andrejbauer@mathstodon.xyz > It then occurred to me that we have a new business model: convince customers that your product is a human being. That's even better than controlling interactions between your customers. This sounds very similar to any sufficiently enshittified platform: replacing an exchange/transaction between two independent humans by an exchange between a human and the platform. The service is provided by machines if possible, and by exploiting humans otherwise. * Big social media companies have your brain believe it's getting a healthy diet of human interaction, when it actually is getting fed industrial "content" by a recommendation algorithm that maximizes engagement. * Ridesharing platforms give you the experience of paying a taxi driver to drive you somewhere, without actually decently compensating a driver (or without compensating a driver at all, in the case of self-driving cars) * ... #enshittification
