The obsession with the King and the royal family on the BBC in the UK is akin, in my experience, to the obsession with the Pope and the catholic church in Italy on the national channels (RAI). With the difference that in Italy for some reason they’re obsessed with the English royal family too. Don’t ask me why. I despise both deeply. This gives you a perfect idea of how the “news” outlets are shaped around these parts and their relationship to power and ideology.
