@Remittancegirl Ummm... I haven't been following this but I thought it wasn't just a drink here and there. Weren't there trailers of him getting absolutely plastered, being drunk at work, and unexplained absences? There's a line where harmless use of alcohol crosses over to a drinking problem, where it is likely to affect your ability to do your job. Afaik, that's what's going on: He has a problem.
