saw something delightful earlier someone had read some books i put in the free stuff area downstairs, and then carefully brought them back to re-lend 💜🥲 they took three books of a trilogy one by one then returned the whole set when finished (and a couple of other things) it's not a big deal, it is the tiniest of tiny things; i just come from a background where if it isn't bolted down it will be stolen and sold; if it is the bolts will be stolen too, that takes a bit of getting over i have been trying to consistently add items to the shelf downstairs and some of them come and go (there's no posted obligation to return anything; there are no rules at all) trying to force myself to put books i liked downstairs instead of hanging onto them and not re-reading them "i can always get another copy of Ancillary" etc (non-book items go down there too but usually get claimed within hours so there's less persistence)
