@ashur@front-end.social @foozmeat@pdx.social This is a super helpful approach that can be used for all sorts of mental roadblocks. Much appreciated to know!

@ashur@front-end.social I love this! And especially love how it doesn’t assume anything about ability or knowledge, and instead opens the door to work as a team to figure something out. <3

@ashur@front-end.social This is really nice. I think it's also good advice for asking in public forums (e.g., here, some tool's Discord server, etc.). I shared it in a community chat I help moderate. Thank you for writing it!

@ashur@front-end.social yes! this is why i write about what i'm doing at the time. not only documenting progress toward solving technical issues, but also working through a creative journey or process. where it began, where it is now, where it might go, its completion. i jot down ideas, prior explorations, decisions, outcomes, plans, and anything deferred to the future. asking "what have i tried?" offers gentle guidance away from getting stuck (again), and also opens up new possibilities. 🌿

☝🏼 I think about this question a lot these days as I watch problems — with better, faster, more accurate, cheaper, and less wasteful solutions *that already exist* — being eagerly fed into LLMs As in, “What have you tried [before settling for a plausible sounding answer (presented with the veneer of utmost confidence!) that in all likelihood is complete hogwash]?”

@ashur@front-end.social thanks for sharing this Ashur, and @foozmeat@pdx.social for the wisdom! (or whatever I should call it)
