@simontatham this is a good insight, and well written. I've tried just about every todo list and task management system out there. They mostly fail for me when the the undone items pile up and I don't want to look at the system anymore. It's great fun to organize and tag and prioritize and categorize tasks into projects and assign contexts, etc. etc. But at some point you gotta do stuff.

    @bit101 Like you, this made me think of task management. My personal todo list continually grows and makes me feel bad when I try to manage it. I often think back to a time management course I took 30 years ago. At the end of the course the instructor told us to add a task to our list; send him a review and he would send a printed booklet with additional tips. That task never warranted an "A" priority (or a "B1" through "B5"). It was on my list for probably a year. I never completed that task.
