Of course the other failing was in not identifying and acting on the issue of home heating oil until it became a political hot potato instead of moving proactively so people could shift away from it before it really began to bite.
As far as vehicles go, this same government removed the subsidies that had been making electric and hybrid vehicles more affordable, and they shouldn’t have done that either: they should have done more, not less.

@HyL Anyway, the only people I intended to complain about in my initial response was my neighbours who spend outrageous amounts of money on gas guzzling trucks for urban commuting, and then are always quick to complain about gas prices and insist that the government rescue them from their own decisions.
