We now have an 'open web API' that requires you to comply with Google's "terms of use". I know many at Chrome disagree with this, but feel they can't say anything publicly out of fear of internal retribution. https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/issues/1213#issuecomment-4347988313

@jaffathecake I don't get why this requires a web API in the first place. What's wrong with just using existing ways to send a request somewhere and get a response? This feels like leveraging Chrome marketshare to push adoption of Gemini, since implementing the API with anything else will likely cause interop issues.

@jaffathecake While I think the pushback against this API is worthwhile, haven't we already crossed the "encumbered web APIs" bridge with things like Encrypted Media Extensions?
