@joshmillard @pronoiac So what you’re saying is “not my circus, not my monkeys?!” That seems apt, I suppose, but somehow disappointing when I want someone to own the answer :thonking:

@rouxdoo @pronoiac heh, there is some formal irony there I would be curious to know the answer, and if I wasn’t on the way out the door I’d do a little digging; seems like it should be doable to at least search up a little evidence for the notional etymology, however well-vetted it is in practice
