@TimWardCam Yeah, there is no go-around with a glider, so we have to practice landings very well before departing on such a flight.
There are established meadows that are (probably) safe to land and we always keep them in safe gliding distance in case the thermals run out.
I really like the challenge of it, plus its a very calm and peaceful way of flying.

@stim3on I have been for one flight in a glider. The instructor said "you're a power pilot, so I don't have to teach you how to fly, but be aware that you'll find it very sensitive in pitch." So I was very very careful to try to make tiny pitch movements ... and even that managed to send the nose up and down rather violently.
